Breakfast in BKK - Zaew Noodles & Nai Ek Roll Noodle

 Zaew Noodles

Near the Thong Lor BTS station in Sukhumvit is a homey breakfast place Zaew Noodles. Not to be confused by another stall with a similar name, ก๋วยเตี๋ยว "แซว, also translate to "Saew Noodles" which is between Phrom Phong BTS station and Thong Lor BTS station. I read on trip advisor that these 2 shops are related. But alas, google lead us to Zaew Noodles by chance.

Anyways, happy to fill our bellies with a good breakfast. We chose their kway teow noodles soup for after deliberating for a while and walked into the stall happily to find a table.

As we walked in and saw pig's blood being dished out and gamely ordered a bowl to try. Their pig's blood soup was served with a generous serving of bean sprouts which is the perfect accompliment to the cubes of blood. Having tasted the one in Guangzhou recently, the one here is mild and doesn't have a strange taste to it comparing to the one I had there.

This bowl of flat rice noodle shop (kway teow) was perfectly comforting with its clean and simple broth. So old school with the right amount of flavor and crispy pork lard too. Their fish dumpling is bouncy to bite and just a joy to eat and I loved it more than the ones found in Singapore.

Be sure to order their iced coffee along with your meal, it's the perfect ending.

Nai Ek Roll Noodle (ร้านก๋วยจั๊บนายเอ็ก)

Nai Ek Roll Noodle is another must visit for many tourist and locals alike. When you head to Bangkok without an agenda or schedule, you rely on the internet to tell you where to go, BurgerNBacon listed them as one of the places to go for a Thai breakfast. Since we were headed to the a place near Chinatown, we took a grab from the Sukhumvit area down to Yaowarat. We reached the place about 8 am in the morning and managed to grab a table as the place was still half full.

Between the hubby and me, we ordered their Pork entrail soup (70 baht), braised pork trotter with rice (60 baht), deep fried crispy pork (100 baht)

At first bite, you will be hit by how crispy the pork skin is and then how flavourful the pork is. It is addictive and by the time you realise it, you've consume too much of a good thing.

The hubby says the braised pork trotter was very well done and inhale the whole plate in a matter of seconds.

I, on the other hand, ordered Pork entrail soup, which is a bowl of pork offals in a peppery broth, much like bak kut teh. Unbeknownst to me, I had a big scoop of soup and after a while felt my mouth burning from the fiery pepper. By then, my senses were fully awake and I started to crave rice to go with this wonderful bowl of deliciousness.

This was one of the quickest breakfast we every had. We were in and out with in about 15 to 20 minutes and with very satisfied bellies too.
